Yummy Treat

When we moved out here, we wanted a way to get to know people in the ward better. So, we started doing a dessert potluck once a month. It has been SO fun to make great friends, enjoy yummy treats, enjoy each others company and come home with new recipes. Tonight, we had another shin dig and this dessert is what I made. I love my newish cookbook "Passion for Baking." LOVE it! Candy Bar Shortbread is from this book. Completely simple and incredibly delicious! Enjoy!

Candy Bar Shortbread

1 c. unsalted butter, softened
2/3 c. sugar
2 1/4 c. flour
Pinch salt
4 (3.52 ounce) Toblerone chocolate bars, coarsely chopped

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Stack two baking sheets together and line top sheet with parchment paper.

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until blended. Add flour and salt and mix to make a stiff dough that does not quite hold together.

Pat dough into a 9 x 13 pan lined with parchment paper and set on prepared baking sheets. Bake until lightly golden, 25-40 minutes. Sprinkle chopped chocolate on hot uncut shortbread.

Let set 5 minutes and smear chocolate around. Cut into small squares and remove cookies to fridge or freezer to set up.

Yield: 2-3 dozen cookies.

Fun Zoo Day!

We had a great day at the zoo...chilly but fun! We also got to play at a friends house and ended the day playing with other friends at the park! What a super day! Not to productive for the mom, but memorable for the kids! We are grateful for such wonderful friends!

Easter

Last Friday, we colored eggs. The easter bunny comes to our home Saturday morning. The kids loved their baskets. Sadie woke up and went right to work finding her basket...hence her crazy hairdo. The kids all got pinwheels this year. They have had lots of fun with them outside.
This year our primary had a service project/easter egg hunt. The kids cleaned the chairs in the primary room and then had the hunt in the basement of the church because of rain outside. It was a fun day!

Conversation with Cole

This was part of our conversation today at lunch.

Cole: "Mom, have we ever been to China?"
Mom: "No."
Cole: "Have we ever been to the top of Mt. Everest?"
Mom: "Nope."
Cole: "Have we ever been to the Eiffel Tower?"
Mom: "No."
Cole: "Gosh, how come we haven't ever been anywhere cool? We need to go on more trips."
I guess we need to get out a little more. :)

Happy Birthday, Jayda!!

Baby Doll

Jayda found one of Sadie's baby dolls. She didn't put that doll down for half a day. She carried it by the foot, arm, bink and head. The doll received lots of luvs and kisses! Super cute!

Kite Festival

We went into the city to the Kite Festival. We were able to get our kite up, but the contestants didn't have as much luck. We ended up going into some museums instead.

Swinging and Racing

There is a fabulous park by our house that has lots of big toys that people have left there. The kids (except Jayda) enjoyed swinging. Then, lots of kids each picked a vehicle, pushed them to the top of a hill and proceeded to race each other to the bottom. They did it over and over for 45 minutes. It was fun to watch and they really enjoyed themselves!
