President

Cole decided he wanted to run for Student Body President. He took the lead and did everything that was required of him. Bart helped him do some posters and the girls helped Cole hang them up around school. He found out on Friday...that he tied! He and his friend, Camilla, tied and will be Co-Presidents for the next school year. It turned out that Cole is the only boy on the Student Council. Should be a fun year! Cole is excited! He worked hard and can't wait for fall! Great job, Cole!
Being sworn in!

Hello, Mr. Turtle!

Kelsey, Makenna and I came home last week to find a turtle in our grass. We've been here 7 years and haven't ever had a turtle by our house! We were pretty excited. So, we decided to put it in a box until the other kiddos came home so they could see it too. Of course, Sadie was the most excited and wanted to keep it as a pet. No, thank you! She and Cole were happy to hold it...the other 3 wouldn't even touch it. :) After some instruction from our neighbor who knows everything about every animal, we took it out back to our forest and set him free. I'm sure it was excited to get away from all the attention!

Pow Wow!

Each year, every class in 2nd grade performs a Pow Wow for their parents. Sadie did such a great job as a dancer and a narrator. Afterwards, we went to their classroom for a presentation. Each child had to stand and do their part. Sadie was the only one who had hers memorized. I was very proud of her. (I think doing talks in Primary helps prepare the kids to do similar things in front of others without being to uncomfortable). Sadie had also written a story, which was really fun to read. She has quite the imagination! Everyone did a great job and it was fun to see what they had been working on for a few weeks.

Happy 4th, Kelsey!!

I can hardly believe this darling, happy girl is 4!! Kelsey had a great day! She was very specific about what she wanted on her day...Dad's banana pancakes for breakfast, out to lunch at Chick Fillet, hot dogs, Doritos and lemonade for dinner with 3 layered chocolate cake, with pink icing and sprinkles. When she saw the decorated living room, she squealed and said "It's just beautiful!" So cute! Our dear friends came for cake and ice cream, which perfectly ended a wonderful birthday! Kelsey loved everything about her special day!

Makenna

Bart put a piece of tape on M's nose and she wouldn't let anyone take it off! It was so funny. She left it on for 30 minutes.

Memorial Day Outing

We decided to surprise the kids with a "Duck Tour". Starting at Union Station, ou go on a tour of the city, by land and water...your vehicle (World War II original DUKW amphibious vehicles) turning into a boat when you enter the Potomac River). Very fun and cool. The weather was perfect and the kids had a ball. The Captain let them all take a turn "driving" on the water. The Captain also gave us "quackers". Loud and obnoxious, but fun. They sound, surprisingly, like a duck.

Late Birthday Post

I had such a great birthday! I heard from all of my family and lots of friends...Bart and the kids spoiled me...It was sunny but not hot outside... Friday night Bart and I went on a date to The Melting Pot (a fondue place). We hadn't ever been there, but I've wanted to go for years! Delicious!! Two funny comments from the kids.. Cole "Mom, you should really enjoy this upcoming year, since it's the last year you will be in your thirties." Thanks, Cole. Jayda "Mom, you are turning 39! Then, you'll be 40, then 41, 42, 43, 44, 45...she counts all the way to 100 then says "And, then you'll be dead!" Great! So much to look forward to! :)
