Fun in the Sun

Nothing like having fun playing in the water when it's hot! We love our friends!

Niagara Falls

After eating an incredibly divine breakfast at a place called Harvest Cafe, we ended our trip by zipping up north and hitting Niagara Falls. When Bart and I went 12 years ago, there was a huge group of Koreans on our "Maid of the Mist" boat that took us near the falls. As you get close to the falls, you get a pretty good "close up" and can get very wet. As we got closer to the falls, one Korean guy hit the deck, curled into a fetal position and starting screaming in Korean. Bart, having served a mission in Korea, understood what the man was saying and started laughing. "We're going to die! We're going to die!" All his friends were totally laughing at him and mocking him like crazy. Calling him a baby and little girl. Eventually, he got up and looked pretty sheepish. Gratefully, none of our kids reacted like that. Sadie wouldn't even put up the hood of her poncho. She wanted to get soaked..and, she did. Makenna wasn't a huge fan, but didn't cry. The falls are very majestic and beautiful. They make you feel very small. :) It was a beautiful day and a fun ending to our trip! SO glad we did it!!

Palmyra-Hill Cumorah Pageant

When Bart and I came 12 years ago, we could hardly see the pageant because it was raining so hard. This year, the weather was perfect! The cast comes out a couple hours before the pageant starts to mingle with the crowd and take pictures. I took a picture of the stage before it started because during the pageant there is no video or photography allowed. The pageant was incredible! The special effects were amazing! You could feel the Spirit. By the end of the pageant, which doesn't start until 9:15, Jayda and Kelsey were wrapped up together and sleeping in the pink blanket and Makenna was passed out in Sadie's arms. The Visitors Center was also very wonderful. So many interactive things to do and look at. The kids enjoyed the whole experience.

Palmyra-Palmyra Temple

Beautiful Temple! There is a wall in the celestial room that looks out onto the Sacred Grove.

Palmyra-Four Corners Churches

There is a place downtown that is called Four Corners. There is a different church on all four corners-Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian, and Episcopal. No wonder Joseph was confused about what church to join...these, plus more, to choose from!

Palmyra-Chill and Grill

12 years ago, Bart and I went with a group through BYU to the Palmyra/Kirtland area. We got the most divine ice cream while in Palmyra. Bart remembered (of course) how to get there and the place was still there! And the ice cream was just as delicious!!
