This Christmas will be the first year that we won't be traveling to be with family. Even though it will be difficult to be away from our families, I'm excited to start some more of our own traditions as we settle into the holiday season.
I heard about an idea a few years ago that I loved and am ready to incorporate it into our Christmas this year. This lady wrapped 24 Christmas books each year and put them under the tree (she pretty much used the same ones each year, maybe getting one or two new ones). Then, the family opened one each night to read before going to bed. On Christmas Eve, they read in the scriptures about the birth of the Savior. So, a couple years ago, I started collecting some Christmas books... as they came on clearance after Christmas... ones that were my favorites from growing up.... ones I saw in others homes that caught my eye... I'm still some books short and wanted to ask you... What is one of your favorites that you can recommend for my collection?
(It has been suggested, and I will do this... after a list of books has been compiled, I will post it on my blog)

A Christmas Dress for Ellen. Love that book taken from a talk (most likely Christmas devotional, but I can't remember for certain).
I get all teary just thinking about it. I think I will go make a cup of cocoa and read it right now...
The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey and Magical Hands. The second one isn't technically a Christmas book but we always read it at Christmas time.
Does this mean we get to start a friend Christmas tradition? We need to talk about this.....

Very favorite is "The Crippled Lamb" by Max Lucado; also love "Great Joy" by Kate DiCamillo, "The Littlest Angel" by Charles Tazewell, "Holly Claus: The Christmas Princess" by Brittney Ryan, "Eloise at Christmastime" by Kay Thompson, "Olivia Helps With Christmas," by Ian Falconer, and we can't resist "The Grinch" by Seuss...
I love this one i think it's called snow much fun, or something. And it's about snowmen who come to life on christmas eve and their adventures, and how the next day they look a little hungover (melty) they don't use that word, they just suggest it.
It's a fun one, and hopefully i didn't affend you.

I don't know if this is any good, but I love this author and he has a Christmas book... 'Room for a little one' by Martin Waddell. It's been on my wish list for the last three years, maybe one of the kids will have to get it this year.
What a fabulous idea, though! I want to do it too.
I think you should post a list of the 24 best Christmas books so I can copy it!
