When it comes to the bink (aka pacifier, paci, pluggy) we had decided that we would take it away from our kids when they are done nursing, around 12 months. Cole weened himself from it at 9 months. Sadie wasn't ever that attached to it. It has been different with Jayda. She liked the bink. We kept it in her bed.. she could only have it for nighttime or nap time. When 12 months came and went, she still had it. Jayda has had lots of ear infections, a really hard time teething... so we let her keep it. Then, we went on our long trip and thought it would be a bad idea to take it from her right before all the plane and car rides and all the new places she would be sleeping and the time change. Next, we knew she would be getting tubes put in her ears, so we thought we would let her keep it until after surgery. So, we decided last night (surgery was this past week) that it would be the night to take the bink away. We did it on a weekend, not knowing how much sleep we wouldn't be getting. :)
We put her to bed last night and she cried for 20 minutes, wanting her bink. I think it's way harder now that she's older because she can call out, saying the words "bink" "please" "Mom" "Dad" and it just breaks your heart. She eventually went to sleep and slept through the night. I just laid her down for a nap and she is in there doing the same thing all over again. I don't think we'll ever let another child keep their bink this long again! Hopefully the saying is true "Two days to break a habit". We'll see!
Ho ho ho!

GOOD LUCK! We finally took Adam's away at 2 and a half. We had tried several times and the only way it worked was when we moved house and 'left' the pacis behind. He was VERY attached! But three days later he was fine. It's just a rough couple of days!!
My heart is breaking just reading about it. She can say please! Oh....the little dear.
Great job! you are doing the right thing.
Ohhhh. Poor Jayda! And poor you to have your heart break when she's calling your name! It makes me glad that I never had to go through that with Brody. When he had colic so bad at the beginning I prayed he would take a binky, but it ended up good I guess. Good luck and I miss ya! Your family is darling!
