Faces of Jayda

Jayda is such fun...our family sunshine. She is so strong sitting up and has learned to wave "bye bye". It is super cute.

Cox Farms

We went to Cox Farms last Friday. We had the best time! The weather was simply gorgeous. We had jackets on at first, but by the afternoon, we were wishing for short sleeves. The kids absolutely loved all the slides, the hay ride, the farm animals and running around with Dad. It was such a great day spent as a family.

Egg Carton Picnic

It was chilly yesterday, so we had a couple friends over for some play time and an egg carton picnic. I have a very creative Mom and this is something we did alot growing up...especially in the summer. We had some huge cottonwood trees behind our house. We would pack up some egg carton lunches, a big thermos of lemonade and a blanket to sit on. Walking the short distance to the trees through the field was always fun. After spreading the blanket, we would enjoy our meal (watching out for the occasional bird poop dropping down from the ever present magpies in the trees above). Anyway, so you fill each hole in the carton with something different, adding whatever you like...cut up peanut butter sandwiches, grapes, marshmellows, pieces of cookie, carrots, raisins, cheese, hot dogs, nuts...you get the idea. It is super fun and the kids always have a great time! I have lots of memories doing this with my siblings, so maybe it's something you can try in your own families.

Mush and Ice Cream

On Sunday, I decided to break down and give mush to Jayda. Why pay for food when she is doing great on free milk?! Anyway, she totally loved the mush...wanting more and more. I was pretty happy about that. We were having some ice cream for Sunday dinner dessert and decided to give her a couple of tiny bites. BIG mistake. Although she really loved the icecream, it made her break out in a rash (all over her face and lots of her body) and made her sick enough to throw up all over the bed. Poor baby. Cole had the same reaction when we gave him a bite of ice cream when he was so little. You think we would've already learned that lesson.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BART!

Today is Bart's birthday. We did a little celebrating Friday when my sisters and their husbands were here. It's always more fun to celebrate with family. The homemade chocolate ice cream was divine and the cake so yummy. Bart is such a wonderful husband and the best dad!

Trunk or Treat

The kids had a ball at the trunk or treat. We had Jayda dressed as a lady bug, but then it was raining and the activity was moved into the church. We thought she would be to hot, so we traded costumes to a bee. She looked darling in both.

Sisters Visit

I'm the luckiest gal around! My two older sisters came out when I had Jayda. They were such fun and a great help. Last week, my two younger sisters came out with their husbands and little ones for a visit and we had the best time! I love being with family!

Boo at the Zoo

We got tickets to go to the National Zoo and participate in the "Boo at the Zoo". We took the metro in to the zoo, had the kids in costume and went trick or treating. There were several animals out to see and they had different booths set up down the main stretch of the zoo to trick or treat at. The kids especially enjoyed the popsicles (even though it was super chilly outside) and the cotton candy. We arrived in time to see the elephants eating pumpkins and the panda bears eating leaves. The kids had a great time!
